Jason Gibson, Director of Bands
Mr. Jason Gibson received his Bachelor's degree from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in 2001. Mr. Gibson studied under Dr. Michael Cox in the saxophone studio and performed in the Wind Ensemble under the baton of Dr. Timothy Swinehart. Upon graduation from Capital, Mr. Gibson continued to climb the corporate ladder with Wendy's, the company he had worked for since he was 16 years old, becoming a General Manager at the age of 23. He then left the corporate world and entered the field of teaching in 2004, where he taught for the Columbus Public Schools at Monroe Traditional School and Mifflin Middle School. In 2006, he left CPS and began teaching at Bishop Ready, where he taught band for five years. In 2011, Mr. Gibson was hired as the Director of Bands for the Reynoldsburg City Schools. He is currently working on his Master's degree in Educational Leadership at the American College of Education and is a member of the Ohio Education Association and the Ohio Music Education Association. In his spare time, Mr. Gibson enjoys spending time with his wife, Aubrey, and his two children.
Liz Porter, Band Director
Mrs. Liz Porter received her Bachelor’s degrees from the Conservatory of Music at Capital University in 2009. Mrs. Porter studied clarinet with Dr. Gail Zugger and Voice with Jacqueline Barlow. Also while at Capital Ms. Bartlett performed with the Wind Ensemble with Dr. Barry Kopetz, and she was a member of the Capital University Clarinet Choir. After college Mrs. Porter taught K-8 general music at Noble Academy in Columbus. Mrs. Porter started her career with Reynoldsburg City Schools in 2019 teaching general music at Hannah Ashton Middle School. Mrs. Porter became a band director in 2021 and is still teaching general music as well. In her spare time, Mrs. Porter enjoys spending time with her husband Josh and her son Elliott, camping, being outdoors, and playing sand volleyball.
Scott Tennant, Band Director
Mr. Scott Tennant began his teaching career in 2013 and has been a band director in the Reynoldsburg City School District since 2018. Originally from Reynoldsburg, Mr. Tennant received a Bachelor in Music Education from THE Ohio State University. While at The Ohio State University, Mr. Tennant participated in numerous ensembles including The Ohio State University Marching Band, Symphonic Band, Collegiate Winds, Jazz Lab Band, Jazz Workshop Band and with the Trombone Studio. Mr. Tennant is a member of Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia, Ohio Music Education Association, National Association for Music Education and is an Eagle Scout. Prior to his appointment in the Reynoldsburg City School District, Mr. Tennant served one year as the Band Director for grades 5-12 in the RULH School District in Ripley, Ohio, one year as the Director of Bands at Everts Middle School in Circleville, and three years as the Director of Bands at Circleville High School. In his free time, Mr. Tennant enjoys spending time with family and friends, as well as watching sports including, but not limited to, Buckeye Football/Basketball/Hockey, the Denver Broncos, Columbus Blue Jackets, and Columbus Crew.
